A Trip to WordCamp London 2017

This weekend was the annual WordCamp London conference in the capital. Every year our community of open source software developers, users, designers and everyone else involved with WordPress gather in the capital in order to discuss everything WordPress related. It is always a brilliant weekend and this weekend was no exception.

The Abandoned Trip to London

This morning I embarked on a trip to London to see my colleague Keith and attend the WordPress London meet up event. Waking up in the morning was the news that #stormdoris was hitting most parts of the United Kingdom, but on checking the rail services for my journey – all “appeared” well.

After walking the kids to school in the pouring rain it was time to head to the station to catch the train to Preston. This part of the journey went according to plan. In fact it went better than according to plan as I was able to jump on an earlier train.

Back to Blogging

I used to have a blog, starting way back in 2007 but to be honest it didn’t last very long. However I did enjoy blogging.

Over the course of the past few months I have been really thinking about my use of the internet, particular social media and what I am (or am not) using it for. One of the things that I concluded was that it is nice to be able to look back at your life over the years – the photos you have taken, the places you have been and the people you have met.

Therefore I am starting up this blog with that being the aim. The document some of things that I get up to. I want to come back to this in 10 years time and see the memories. I wonder if I will be able to?

Worden Park in Half Term

I expected Worden park to be much much busier during a stunning day in February half term. Surprisingly it was reasonably quiet and Harry and James absolutely loved it playing in the playground.

Saturday Stroll Through Brindle Lodge

I ventured out with the kids this afternoon and thought we would call in on Grandad and Grandma and then take a stroll around Brindle Lodge. This is somewhere I would have walked through many a time as child but never been back since.

BigWP WordPress Meetup in London

I travelled down to London on the train to meet-up with Keith for the WordPress BigWP meet-up help at the stunning News UK building near Tower bridge. Got some great photos of Tower Bridge and the Tower of London on the way.

The morning after we had a great breakfast at the Breakfast Club restaurant after meeting one of our clients.

A Few Days in Grassington

Spent a lovely few days in the caravan with the boys. They played on the park, getting to know others on the site and enjoyed some walks about and about.

We also have some fabulous Barnsley chops on the BBQ which led to a discussion as to why they were called ‘Barnsley Chops’.

House Extension

In the spring of this year we finally decided to get some prices on a new extension for our house. After being recommended, we opted to have the extension built by Kemp Building services. Having also met Jamie (the builder) he was quick to put us at ease with the process and made everything nice a clear.

The price was right and the extension would now begin work in the early months of May.
